I have a client that has requested he should be able to type widgets.com to find the site.
By this I mean drop the [www....]
Anyone know how to do this or do I need to contact the host.

Realnames has closed business ...but when they were trading they claimed that if you bought the term widgets then someone typing in "widgets" - in IE - would go to whatever URL you specified, even if it was something like [widgets-company-UK.biz...]

but...

widgets.com takes you to [widgets.com...] (and you could redirect that to [widgets.com)...]

So I don't see the problem.

The DNS Hosting site needs to add a DNS entry for the widgets.com as an A record, the IP address will point to the same address as the www address.

And you can always do the ctrl - shift and enter after typing widgets into the address bar.
