My company is buying out one of our competitors that has good ranking in some mildly competitive keywords. We have made an offer to purchase the domain names website shopping cart and everything. We will modify the contact info of the site but then leave the site unchanged. We are planning to transfer the domain to our company and then repost the site at the same IP and hosting company.
What sort of hit will we take in Google due to this transfer?
Is there any other problems lurking with buying this for the main purpose of buying the position and branding it holds?
