Domain Forwarding

will it effect search engine ranking?

I have a client who's url is; ie. xyz.com. He now wants to redirect that url to a totally different url that he thinks his clients will find easier to remember. Will this domain forwarding effect his ranking on search engines?

A 305 redirect on the server to the new domain should not cause a problem.PR along with ranking should be passed.
