Can I do a Whois type search on an email address?

sort of like a reverse address lookup

What I'd like to do is a search on a particular email address and find out what domains are registered with that email address as the contact info.

Pointers to previous threads, or actual ways to do this would be welcomed.

Not possible- Bottom line is you can't really search Domain registrant info, only the domain itself.
