I changed my domain name 2 years ago when I bought business. I kept the old domain name and pointed it to the new domain name, hoping to faze out the old domain name in time. It was working well, until recently. The search engines have now reverted to the old domain name in most cases. My links are to the new domain, and I just don't understand what has happened to cause this. My host server doesn't know the answer, does anyone else? Thanks very much.

How? Using a redirect? If so, what response code - 301, 302, ...? Check the old domain with the Server Header Check [searchengineworld.com].

Thanks,
I checked it with the Server Header Check, and both of my domain names come up. Should the old one not come up? My web host says it is not a redirect, but simply that the old domain points to the new, and he doesn't know why the old one is now coming up. Sorry, but I am very new to this and just learning about web sites and search engines.
Thanks again

Rojello,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]!

It is critical that you answer Yidaki's question:

> Check the old domain with the Server Header Check [searchengineworld.com]. [W]hat response code [do you get] -- 301, 302, ...?

When you check your old domain, what does the first line (as highlighted below) show?

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Sun, 25 Apr 2004 01:06:00 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) FrontPage/5.0.2.2510
Cache-Control: max-age=0
Pragma: no-cache
X-Powered-By: BestBBS v3.15
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html

Hi Jim:
Thanks for responding. When I check my old domain with Server Header Check, I get HTTP/1.1 200 OK in the first line.
