Hi all,

Did a quick search on WW and didn’t see any reference to this scam so I thought it would be fair to notify you all.

This morning I received a Domain Expiration Notice, <red>Do Not Ignore This Notice</red> renewal letter from EU Registry Services based at Unit 255, Cambridge. For the renewal of one of my domains, turns out this is a scam that is known about and being dealt with by Cambridge police, but none the less they are sending out mail shots of this renewal as we talk. The actual letter is remarkably official looking and can make you sit back and think for a minute.

There website is up and running also but as TOS prevents me from posting the URL I will refrain from doing so, if anyone wants the URL then please sticky me.

If this has been posted about already and I didn’t see it, then please accept my apologies.

Today I received my second of these "Expiration Notices". You can read more about the guy who is responsible here. [timesonline.co.uk...]

Yeah, I've had these too. I've reported it to Trading Standards and the Cambridgeshire Police who should be aware of the scam. If you get these letters, you could try doing the same. Maybe they'll eventually shut down this nasty piece of work.

I got one too, i even reported them to Nominet.org.uk but unfortunately they seem to think that they have much better things to do with their time like charging £35 to change a few details on a domain name to change ownership! Well they have to count their money dont they! Even though they are a non profit organisation!

A bit OT but I received a different one on Saturday from a company who call themselves the "He@lth and S@fety Enf*rcement @gency". They are trying to get money from companies for He@lth and S@fety registration by posing as an official body.

What I did was send their returns envelope back to them, minus postage and marked the envelope with "cheque enclosed". On a folded piece of paper inside I advised them to do something impossible to themselves ;o)

Hopefully this will at least p*ss them off slightly. Any further suggestions as to how we can maximise the inconvenience to these people would be greatly received.
