Transferring names with Godaddy.
I am going to incorporate my internet activities some time later this year. My domains are currently held under my personal name and registered with Godaddy. What would be the best way to do the transfer of ownership to the new entity?
Should I open a new Godaddy account under the corporate name?
If so what next?
I'm not answering the questions. I'm just suggesting your analysis might expand. You might talk to your accountant about any benefits of keeping them apart, etc. What if the corporation - but not you - runs into trouble. The corporate assets get taken, liened, etc.
Lot's of possibilities, including a domain name holding company if it's a nice collection.
Kick back, think, consult with local counsel and tax advisor if the collection has value as a stand alone asset.
The reason is mostly one of liability and formalizing a partnership by giving someone an equity stake.
I figured out how to do the transfer, it just took me a while to get to it using Godaddy's FAQ system.
I was missing a drop down menu :)
No wonder their FAQ seemed so incomplete.
