Id like to purchase a .com and .co.uk name, both of these have been purchased by different people, and the expire in April / May of this year.

Ive been looking at these sites for the last year and they are both dead sites (nothing on them at all)

Is it wise to try and contact the owner before the expire date is over and offer a sum for the domain name.

As i think they renew the subscription each year, but never use them!

if so what is a reasonable price these days for a domain name with no website.

thanks

Anything from $200 to $1,000,000+ depending on the name, and the current owner. A lot of people sit on hugely valuable names just because they haven't yet got a high enough offer...

Impossible to give a more accurate answer without knowing what the name is - and even then it's pure guesswork because we still won't *know* what the current owner is thinking.

Why not wait to see if they let them expire?

As long as your offering more than the renewal fees they will probably be interested.
