Domain Redelegation

What happens to email addresses?

I need to redelegate a domain name (name.com) from one host to another.
The current hosting situation has six email addresses attached (email1@name.com, email2@name.com, etc.).
My question is:
If I redelegate name.com to a new host by changing the name servers and IP, will the email addresses change over automatically or do I need to create them again on the new host?
I can't afford to have any lost emails.

you need to create them at the new host.

best thing is to create them BEFORE doing the DNS change.

that way you should be covered.

hopefully a techie round here can explain in more detail...

Thanks for your prompt reply Shak.
It seems that I can't create the email addresses at the new host before the domain is redelegated to it.
Is there a trick to this?

once you signup for the new hosting plan, you go to your domain name registrar and update the DNS numbers, you then go to your hosting control panel and create the new email accounts.
as soon as the new DNS propagates (from 24 to 72 hours) around the world, the new email will work just like the old ones. If you create exactly the same usernames and passwords for the email accounts you won't have to change anything else. Just check email as usual.
the most down time would be a few hours maybe.
luck,
