Get Domain Owned by NetIdentity

Total newbie here, so be gentle...

I'd like to register my last name as a domain. It isn't a terribly common name like Smith or Brown.

A WhoIs search shows that Net Identity currently owns the domain. There is no actual web site. The registration expires in 6 months. The WhoIs information included a "Get your own name@mylastname.com email address"

My question - is it realistic to think I might have a shot at registering this domain if I use a back-order service (Pool, ExpireFish, etc)? Is it realistic to even think that NetIdentity would release the domain? Should I bother spending my money on a back-order service?

Any advice is greatly appreciated

It's not realistic. Netidentity is an established speculator. They're probably not sloppy enough to let names drop.

If it makes you feel better, I'll tell you a secret: Having your last name as a domain isn't always as practical as it sounds. I've got mine, and people never believe me when I tell them my e-mail address.
