The United Nations trademark and copyright agency WIPO on Wednesday revealed the existence of a raft of fake Web addresses which divert customers of airlines, hotels and car hire firms to a site selling cheap travel deals.

This could have implications for names that are not blatant infringment but close to it of which I see a lot about.

Interesting find that!

It is surprising that they have got away with it for so long without the "real" brand holders kicking up.

As well as the examples given, similar things are done with individual high profile hotels, where the "cheap" site appears to be the "official" site, and is often the one in DMOZ to boot!
