My hosting company has arranged a 302 redirect on www.olddomain.com since a new version has now been opened up at www.newdomain.com. The change is permanent.
I believe a 302 redirect is temporary, whereas a 301 redirect is permanent. Are there any advantages / disadvantages in using a 302 redirect rather than the 301 redirect?

It keeps spiders looking at the old address. I have also seen a duplicate content penalty from Google because of it.
