According to whois, a domain name expired yesterday that redirects users to a hard core porn site. The domain name is similar to mine and a lot of sites link to it. I believe this site had quite a following because before it was redirected to this nasty porn site. According to the Internet Archive, a couple of years ago it was a slightly more tasteful soft core porn (gawd, how many times have I used this word now?) site run by some chick in her house and she probably earned a little cash with it.

Anyway, ever since I saw this domain name getting close to expiration, I've been hungry to own it! I used godaddy's back order service for $18.95. If I obtain it, my plan is to simply redirect it to my site which is just a personal site and is in no way pornographic.

Was waiting until after the expiration date the smart thing to do, or doesn't it matter? I wonder if I'll actually be able to obtain it...?

Here I am, just 24 hours telling you I lost in my effort to do my little part in fighting porn by snapping up this domain name. It was just renewed!

Well, I moved my backorder request to another domain name that expires next spring. I'm doubtful I'll get that one though.
