There's a really, really good domain name about to expire!

What's the best way to secure my chance at it?

Hi, I found a really good, top level domain name that's about to expire soon.

I get the feeling it's so good, that others may be watching and waiting for the second it gets dropped so they can register it.

So I'm wondering, what's the best way to secure a chance at it? Is there anything special I should know, or do? Any tips or anything? Or should I just be ready to register it like normal at like register.com the day it gets released.

I know it's possible the owner of the domain could still renew, but it looks like they haven't done anything with the domain since 1998, and the site looks pretty much "abandoned", so I kinda have high hopes here!

I've used SnapNames before, and had luck maybe 40% of the time. It's good to try, and it is free to try and snap, but they'll charge you once they get it.

You'll definitely want to use a grabber service if you think it'll be a hot item.

but it looks like they haven't done anything with the domain since 1998

You know, good old fashioned human contact has worked for me a good majority of the time. We've acquired some really nice names this way. You might pay more, but it could be worth it to you. You should try!

I guarantee you that if its good others are watching it as well.If it is about to expire before Oct 27 then Pool and namewinner are probably be your best bet for a snapback service.Snapnames have dropped their game and seem to be waiting for the WLS to start.
Bakedjake's suggestion of contacting the owner is a great one as this way you beat the domain grabbing professionals.I have used this to good effect.

Keep a look on it and see when it os going off. Then the domain goes into either registrarhold or redemption hold and then in pendingdelete before being available.

The times for these depends upon registrar to registrar. post the registrar name and maybe I can tell you time that one takes to release name ultimately!

I have seen what I think is a good domain that's going to expire. It's registered with bulkregister and upon an internic whois I found the following:

Status: REDEMPTIONPERIOD
Expiration Date: 20-jul-2003

Can you please tell me when it will be available for registration?

Also, can you recommend a good back ordering service?

Thanks,
