I just got spam from Netsol pushing this new service:

"Next Registration Rights from Network Solutions, the first service that automatically grants you the next registration of the domain name you want if it becomes available during your subscription period."

Are they actually allowed to guarantee that you get next registration over and above other organisations such as snapnames?

Yes. It is a waiting list. The days of domain shoot outs is coming to an end.

I heard that there will be other registars to offer this service. Do you know if itīs true, and which registars will offer this service?

Funny you should ask about this. I just had an email exchange with NS about this very question.

I backordered a name with SnapNames on Tuesday then was doing the same with a different name on Wednesday and I used NextRights instead. What I read about NextRights surprised me: They seemed to be indicating that NextRights (which is part of Network Solutions) works by not releasing the domain name to ANYONE else until they've checked to see if anyone has back-ordered it with NextRights.

This is from the email:

"Next Registration rights gurantees that you will be the next registrant of the domain name. Snap
names can't over ride N.R.R. Next Registration Rights is at the registry level, who ever purchased NRR for a specific domain name will be the one to get it, there is no over ride for this product."

In other words, why use SnapNames at all? Won't this put them out of business (especially considering NextRights is $39 and SnapNames is $69)?

Wow - first I heard of this - going to try it - thanks for the heads-up.

Next Registration Rights is not live, and may never go live. They really should disclose that fact. I would watch the lawsuits that NetSol has before trying their services. If it never goes live, then you wasted your money.

We'll find out on the 27th!

Yes, we will, hahahaha.

Oh and I forgot to mention that it's basically a no-risk scenario to try it. They don't charge you until you execute the order.

They don't take your money until they do something for you.

But I just got an email saying that the October 27 launch date has been pushed back.

I really think itīs time to put order on this domain name back-ordering. There are services that after they grab the domain, they auction it, and sell it for $2000, like it happen for one domain I was looking at. What a good business!
I just hope that NSI allow us to transfer the domain (after we grab it with Next Registration Rights) to another registar after 60 days.

Anyone know the current launch date for NRR? I just got off the phone with one of their reps, and they assured me that even though the domain that I wanted was already ordered via Snap Back, that I could still order next registration rights and be the next owner of the domain. It just sounds too good to be true.

Yeah give them up for the time being.Even they have no idea when or if it will be introduced. If your name is about to expire get a pool or namewinner on to it.Any names that are back ordered with snapnames and NRR will have to bid for the WLS when it first comes in anyway.
