Web Hosting Problems

i moved my site into a new hosting company. on the day i signed the server was down, the next day i updated the dns settings to the new ones. and i was about ready to upload my files until i found out that the servers were again down. the customer support asked me to wait 12 hours.

the next 12 hours the ftp server was up so i uploaded my files. but i still couldn't access my site in the browser since the dns settings hadn't been propagated yet, so i gave it another 12 hours.

today, i checked my site with a browser, what a surprise i had. i still encountered the error message from msn (i use an ie browser), so i contacted again the customer support. and was told their servers were again down asked to wait 12 hours. now 12 hours later, i still can't access either my site or ftp server and the customer support again told me to wait because their technical people were working to get the server back up soon.

i have waited well more than 72 hours and my site's still down and i feel like i'm a victim of their problems. i have paid money to host 3 domains and wasted my time as well.

the most concern that i have is my site search engines rankings. since they've been down for more than 3 days, would i lose traffic if my sites are back up in a day or two?

Bud, whether or not you lose traffic depends on whether the search engines are visiting your site when it is down. Yes, you can lose rankings and traffic if they get a 404 when they look for a page they had listed previously.

You need a new host! Today, not tomorrow or next week!

great news..i've got a new host.
the previous host was nothing but a headache. their servers were screwed up.

now, its time to get my money back! hey rogerd, do you think they'd refund the money they owe? it had only been a week, and that entire week i couldn't access anything, not even the ftp server to upload things and the dns setings kept changing by themselves.

when i tried to ping, it returned an unknown host. when i tracerouted my site, it was unresolved.

thanksgoodness i'm out of their freakin servers.

Did you complain? You should have a good chance, if you paid with a credit card you could try getting your money back that way (because they did not provide a service).

yes, i have sent them a complain email requesting a refund and the reason why the problems i encountered weren't resolved and i was a victim of circumstances.

HI Bud_Bundy,

Another option would be set up a server of you own with pair or some other service. If you have a number of domains it might even work out cheaper.

If you do have your own server it is your responsibility. If something goes wrong fix it. No more tech support or terrible service.

best of luck anyway.
