I can make a pretty decent site, when I'm modivated :), but I'd like to learn how to serve up my own site. Like, is it possable to have Apache 2.0 on my home computer, and serve up pages with it to the world? Or do I not have a choice, I have to pay other people for my site? :).

Thanks for your time :).

Welcome to WebmasterWorld his_new_son,

Sure it is possible, I know a ton of people do that. There may be some bandwidth limitations from your ISP and, imo, there is a lot to learn about security etc before you start hosting your own sites.

You could always set up a second machine and start messing around before you open it up to the world. Apache 2 wouldn't be my first suggestion though, I would go with a 1.3, I believe 1.3.28 is the most recent release.
