I didn't know where else to put this, but I had to ask. We had a customer call today ticked because he couldn't use his email address on out system. It was XXXX@XXXXX.name . I checked out the domain and sure enough, there is a www.XXXXX.name . Did I miss a piece of news? Since when was there a .name?

BTW, he couldn't use his email because we verify that there are 2 or 3 characters after the dot to help make sure they are good addresses.

There is also ".info" so the check should be changed anyway.

Now I vaugely remember that. I knew about .biz . But I guess the .name and .info just went by me. I suppose because I haven't seen either of them used before this. Thanks for the .info . ;0)

I wonder if this has been discussed before -

What do surfers "perceive" of domain names like www.mycompany.biz or www.mycompany.name? Am I wrong if I say that .com sites have more credibility and value?
