Add domain name search to site

I want to give the users of my website the facility to look up the availability of a domain name. Can anyone recommend the best way of doing this.

Use a programming language of your choice and then connect to port 43 to check the status. It is not that hard, or you can search around for a pre build script. Just do a google search for "[language] whois" such as "php whois".
