1. person_a - a person (not company) who owns a generic domain (.net)
2. person_b - another person that owns the same domain (.com)
3. person_a has operated a successful site using the .net for many years, whilst person_b has not used but basically just cyber squatted on their name for the same amount of years and gives off no indication of using the name.
4. Whilst person_a has a successful site it has not made any large amount of $ to offer mega bucks for the dot com.
5. person_a also owns all the other generic names in question i.e. org, info, and biz.
Question: does person_a have any other ways of buying the domain from person_b without having to offer whatever price they set? I do understand that person_a has rights as the registrar of the name, but is there any loop holes in there for the fact that they seem to be just squatting on the name till an offer is made.

I have a number of generic domains, and often get pressurised by the .com or .net holders of those domains.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as I have a few other generic names myself (all active) that I wouldn't give up to easy unless of course threatened with court action where I would settle for an out of court payment.
Reason for wanting the name I suppose to have the creme de creme of that generic name if that makes any sense :)
