whois says "register this domain at register.com"

I was checking a domain name I'd like to register and found conflicting information.

When I do a search with any of the registrars, the domain shows as registered. But the whois just says "this domain is available, register it at register.com". You can't do it on the web since it's supposedly taken, so I guess you have to phone them?

What does this mean? Is the domain in the process of expiring? Or is register.com snapping up names and forcing you to register through them ( but only by phone? )

Hi Metablue,

It could be this one was in the process of being registered by someone else.
It is a good idea to check the whois in real time.

Good Luck

Generally when there is no whois information at the registrar, This means the Registrar has deleted the domain. The domain should be available again in another few days.
