I have a site with a domain name - let's say "carsite.com". I know that a significant amount of people who are into car sites also search the web using the word "auto". It so happens that the domain name "autosite.com" is not taken. In addition, there are very few competitors for the "autosite" keyword and I know I could get to the top 3 on Google with some SEO. My ultimate goal is to bring more web traffic to my main site "carsite.com". So which of the following should I do after I buy the new domain:

A) Sit on the new domain.
B) Link the new domain to the main site.
C) Develop 1 to 6 pages of content on the new domain and link to new site.
D) Put an entire mirror of my main site on the new domain.

Perhaps there is another option that I haven't thought about. All input welcomed. Again, the carsite.com and autosite.com are probably real, but I'm just using them purely as examples. Thanks.

Never do D!

C) is handy if you have enough Unqiue information about that thing. Then you can link that site to your main one.

B) I would refine this to say, "redirect". I prefer to use a domain as a short-cut to deeper content on the main site. Just a one page link that tells people about the other site is rather pointless.

A) Yes, Sitting on the domains is always good. If the domain is good, then don't let it sit idle.

I currenly do A, B, and C. It all depends on the domain really. Different purposes for different domains.
