e.g. a site with two names:
(lets not get into the whole keyword or not keyword argument here). My qestion is about how best to set up a multi-name site without problems with link-pop or dupe-content.
One option is a '301 permanent moved' in the .htaccess of one of the sites so a person can type the name in and is redirected (in a search engine friendly way) to the main name/site.
I set up a site recently with a 2nd name simply parked on the first name. Now both names show a Google PR of 4. I don't like this approach because my client arranged a couple of links to one name while I arranged lots of links to the other name (a mess).
However, the .htaccess approach means that Google should understand the search engine designated name.
