Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can give me advise on accepting payments for a consulting/coaching website Im building.
Im based in UK and will be taking payments 200-300 pounds and possibly recurring billing. Ultimately want something that will take cc payments online but also via email, fax and phone if necessary.

Was going to use Paypal initally then add a merchant account a bit later (as Im a bit short of cash).

Had looked at Paysystems but found that taking payments over phone/email etc will cost additional $50 month.
Also thinking of using WorldPay.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advise based on their experiences. Thanks.

Protx are supposed to be good though you will need a merchant account with your bank. They have a virtual PDQ unit so that you can process orders received by fax and mail online and there rates also look very good especially compared with worldpay (who we use).

Not familiar with UK systems, but in general you should look for the term "virtual terminal" or something similar. Most companies that offer them have a mechanism for recurring payments.

I've had experience with both Protx and Secpay. Both are easy to integrate with backend systems and offer virtual PDQ terminals so you can enter credit card numbers online.

In my experice as far as customer service and support go I'd say that Secpay wins hands down. When recnelty integrated Scepay with a shopping cart system. When I needed help and support they were always available on the end of phonw and were knowledgeable and friendly.

There are numerous ways of hooking into the SECPAY system. I have just finished a site that uses a form and a custom Perl script which handles the callback from Secpay (which tells you whether the transaction has gone through etc.).

Does the webiste you building have ecommerce functionality and a backend that can hook into a payment services provider?

Worldpay offer both the services you need. Their Futurepay package would handle the recurring payments and they also have PDQ system for handling offline payments.
