[amazon.com...]

It looks as though amazon is now selling other online store's merchandise. Aka, they are selling their competitors inventory. The prices seem to be identical to the ones on their competitors pages. If you read a bit, you supposedly pay amazon through your credit card and they pay the other store, so amazon is the only one with your credit card number. Thats kinda surprising.

tbh this is kind of a guess as Im not a big Amazon user at all...

I think when amazon list "used" or "refurbished" items, they are simply taking suggestions from people. e-bay stylee ... so it seems as if some companies are using Amazon as a secondary outlet ... quite clever marketting if you ask me.

However, I could be very wrong, and it could be that Amazon are simply re-selling these items.

Yes, they've been doing this for a little while now. I bought some of Target's "tupperware style" storage containers from Amazon a couple of weeks ago (should I be embarrased about admitting that?)

It ships from the third party merchant. I am sure Amazon is acting as an affiliate in these transactions. As far as the Amazon Marketplace items, you can sell anything there just like eBay. Hmmmmmm, I wonder whose business they are going after?
