The new subsidiary will provide retailers with an outsourced e-commerce service, giving them access to Amazon's website technology, fulfilment and customer services assets. Amazon already powers a number of retails websites, including Target.com, Toysrus.com, Borders.com and cdnow.com, but said the creation of a separate business unit would enable it to focus additional resources in helping more retailers.

>>Amazon.com invests more than $200 million per year in improving its technology and Web site.

So from that i take it that we are not talking about a cheap solution :)

Depends on the market and volume they are going to be aiming at. I would imagine, given the nature of the existing technology, they will be aiming at the enterprise market, and probably on a %age of turnover basis, rather than fixed pricing.

I would be interested to see how far they go with the cobranding, ie are you going to start seeing "Powered by Amazon" stickers on these sites?
