I'm just about to start selling an ebook as a download and wondered if anyone had some tips they could share.
We process our payments through WorldPay and so the easiest way to deliver the ebook would be to put a static link on the payment confirmation page and one in the payment confirmation email.
My fear is that the static link is easily abused - i.e. the book downloaded by people who haven't paid but have somehow got hold of the link.
Does anyone have experience of this?
AM I worrying unnecessarily or is there an easy way to protect the download that I am missing?

What you need is a payment validator. It will be conditional once payment has been done. It's not too hard to do. There are some solutions available on the market. We build our own here, as our experience showed us they become more customizable.
Once you have that, I think your little problem with the ''freebies'' will be history.
