www.westhost.com has a good package right now and they are providing miva with it for a good good price - I think you can get an account with miva for under $10 a month right now

I recently signed up with westhost and couldn't be more happy with the switch. They have great customer and web service. I figured if it is good enough for WW it is good enough for me.

One thing to double check when comparing hosts is the provision of a ssl certificate. Some have a shared cert. included. Others you have to purchase your own.

With westhost for a bit more you can get to use their certificate, which is well worth it. I've done some comparing, and theirs is a bargain.

Westhost support absolutely sucks. I have not gotten an answer from them in less than 24 hours in the last 6 mo, and often longer. Usually the only way to get a reply is to bombard management and sales with complaints so they prod tech into responding. I am leaving them soon as I my paid time runs out, after four years with them. The advertise 24/7 but recently admited to a buddy that the weekend guy had quit so they had no support on weekends anymore!

I highly recommend you do a search on this and other hosting forums before you consider them.

Also their free Miva on the lower cost plans doesn't permit SSL which makes it pretty worthless unless you'll be happy using just Paypal (which sucks lately too). To get a usable Miva you have to sign up for a $20+ plan, and there are a lot of other, more reliable, hosts offereing MIVA when you get to that price range.

Even at $20 a month, I think its still a good deal. A lot of sites I've seen ask double that for shared SSL. Yes, support is not as responsive, but since the site has been stable, I haven't had a need to email or call. :) slindo, do you might be informally on their "bad" list now that you've bombarded them with complaints?

WestHost gives you abbreviated log files, for a charge of $10.00 they will set up and give you the full log files. Problem with that is they only keep them online for 4-7 days regardless of size of the file or amount of disk space you may be using for the rest of the site.

If you need or want to review your log files this may not be the best ISP for hosting.

herb, even the least expensive packages offer the ability to set "cron" jobs, so you can gzip/copy the logs to your shell account. Then download them at your leisure.

kindredmwa, you might also look at mals-e.com for a free remotely hosted shopping cart.

pair.com

Tried 3 hosts while developing my Miva store, pair has support 2nd to none, and are very, very fast.
