The site would sell a type of subscription for a set fee of £20-30.
Simple eh? I have been looking into various merchant account providers and gateways and it would seem not. 2C0 is cheap, but seems to be US orientated and is missing a couple of cards that are popular in Europe. Worldpay is expensive. Chronopay don't seem to give initial set up fees... The list goes on.
Which provider will give me decent rates, low setup fee, no hassle and some basic dynamic elements?
Based in the UK, with a theme popular worldwide, so the more universal the better.
Please advise!
I think quite a significant percentage of people will be put off when they see the paypal logo.
Thanks for your suggestion though, going to have a mess round with it. Didn't know they now let you accept money from non-paypal members, although I think they try to claim them as members once payment is processed...

I don't think that's a fair assessment. I'd agree that there are some who dislike PayPal for one reason or another but I've seen an equal number of folks who totally trust their services and swear by them. My reasoning behind not recommending PayPal to my clients has more to do with a lack of proof in either direction. I'd rather they not take the risk of the negative perception and lose sales.
I have gone with paypal for the time being, as there is no option for an upgrade to this outside of the US, my users have to click "pay now", be transferred to a page that has my site name in large print at the top and the option to sign into their paypal account, or the less obvious instruction to "click here" if the user doesn't have a paypal account. If they choose the latter option they can just pay by credit card without signing up for paypal.
I know that if I wanted the services, I would have no problem with either of these options, but do you think the group of people that would be is significant enough to look elsewhere?
