PayPal Account Required

When did this change? Or did it?

Signing up for a PayPal account will be required to complete this purchase.

Did PayPal change within the past few days? The shopping cart interface is a bit different and now a PayPal account is required. Both sites I'm reviewing are set up as business accounts.

You have been able to pay with a credit card through PayPal without requiring an account for many months now, and nothing has changed as far as I can tell.

Not from what I'm seeing...

Billing Information
Signing up for a PayPal account will be required to complete this purchase.

Again, I just checked two different sites using PayPal and the interface has changed since I last looked a few days ago.

"PayPal Account Optional" is one of the Website Payment Preferences that can be configured from the profile page of a business account, so I guess the accounts that you are working with are configured to require buyers to have or signup for an account.

Hehehe, I knew I was going to get responses like the above. ;)

Been using PayPal for years. I did login to the various accounts to make sure none of the preferences had changed from their long time settings. They haven't.

The page is a bit different than it was a few days ago. The Remove box is to the right now instead of at the left and now the visitor is required to setup a PayPal account to proceed with checkout. I've double checked everything and have just looked at a third site using PayPal and it too requires an account. :(

Can you send me (via StickyMail) the URL of your site? We have recently made some changes and I would like to troubleshoot if you are seeing some errors.

EDIT: For all of the sites that you are checking, do all the PayPal buttons point to the same PayPal account, or do you use a different Business account for each site?

Check your Sticky.

Oh, definitely a different business account for each site. These are individual client sites where a PayPal shopping cart is implemented.

Mine says:

"Pay securely using your credit card, or bank account where available."

I have not looked at it lately, but the "where available" I do not recall.

Just found out it was a cookie issue. Not sure where I picked the cookie up but it was forcing the PayPal Account required screen. It's all fixed now thanks to the help of pp_rb. I should have cleared cookies first before posting. ;)

Hmmm, the cookie issue presents itself at times and I'm left wondering how many visitors are also experiencing this. If that cookie is present, visitors are required to have a PayPal account to checkout.

pp_rb where is that cookie coming from? And why?
