Paypal - Changing The Name Of A Personal Account

I want the website name, not my name, on the bottom of Paypal receipts.

Yup - that's the question. I want to be able to change the Personal Account name that I have, (i.e. my personal name), to my company/website name, so that the company/website name will appear on the bottom of the Paypal receipt when someon buys something from clicking through on a Paypal button from my website. The full story...

I have a Personal Account with Paypal. I want to sell some ebooks etc by clicking through from a Paypal button on my website. I have gone through the Merchant Tools and created a Paypal button for my website.

However.....

1. The "Company Name" which appears on the bottom of the Paypal receipt, is my name, not the name of the company/website where the purchase is being made from.

2. Even by not encrpyting the Paypal button code, the fields that are open to change does not include an option to change the Company Name.

When setting up a Paypal account, (Personal, Premier or Business), the name of the Paypal account is automatically filled into the field on the bank Direct Debit form, (to become verified for Bank Funding for Paypal purposes), which would get sent to your bank. Of course, if you don't have a bank account with the same name as your company, (i.e. a "company account"), then your bank is not going to recognise the direct debit.

So, if I was able to change the Company Name on the bottom of the Paypal receipt to show my website/company name instead of my personal name - that would be great :)

Anyone know if this is possible?

You can change the account holder to your company's name. Then the name on the receipt/shopping bag will display your company's name. But you will ONLY be able to withdraw money to your company's bank account.

You cannot keep your personally name and then display a different name on the receipt/shopping bag.

Thanks Raymond.

I thought that might be the case. I was probably holding out here for someone to say "No! Wait! There is a way to do it!" :)

Thanks again.

Posting the same reply I wrote when responding to your same question in a different forum. :)

If you upgrade to a Premier account (which is charged fees like a Business account, but still uses your individual name instead of a business name), you would be able to modify the name that is shown on your customers' credit card statements.

To edit your Credit Card Statement name, log in to your Premier or Business account, click on the Profile link, and select "Payment Receiving Preferences". Scroll down to the section where it shows the Credit Card Statment name that is currently being used for payments you receive - you may edit both the regular statement name and extended statement name to better match your company or website name.

If you use a Premier account, your customers would continue to see your email address displayed in place of the business name during the payment process, and would see your (individual) name in their account's History if they made the payment using a PayPal account.

Thankyou pp_rb - nice to see we go to the ssme places. :)

It's not quite the explanation/answer I was asking for, but good info anyway. I was more specifically concerned with chaning my name at the bottom of the Paypal receipt,( when someone clicks through on a Paypal button), from my personal name to a website/company name.

Thanks again

Paul

The only way to show a business name on the payment pages & receipt is to use a Business account. If you can't do that, because of your direct debit concerns, the only alternatives I can think of are:

- Editing your card statement name (available to Premier accounts but not Personal accounts)

- Changing the logo that is displayed in the header of your payment pages (available to both Premier and Personal accounts) - however, this will not change the name that is displayed within the body of the page or in the buyer's receipt after the payment is complete.

(To change the logo displayed in the header of your payment pages, you can eiter set up Custom Payment Pages within your account Profile, or you can just use the variable cpp_header_image within your button HTML code and set the value to the URL of a securely hosted image showing your website name/logo.)

yes, I wanted to do the same thing and can't find a way to change the parent company name on checkout. The dba business name is for retail and we have another account for services. I would like to make guests comfortable checking out with the name of the store in the header.

We used a graphic header but it has been very problematic though PayPal. The certificate on a separate https server freaks people out and we lose sales due to PayPal and this "feature" so we have to use text but then people see the parent company name and think, "what is this operation" - I am sure the same if they see a persons name and not the store name.

I don't mind having both the main user/company but there needs to be the name of the store because often this is NOT the same as the business.
