Certificate Problem

With my currently host I am on a shared server with shared SSL.
I am in the process of setting up the beta for what will be my store and the problem is that when a testing the login the following warning box pops up

<snip>

It says Unable to verify the Identity of host as trusted site.

It then describes three potential reason for this and then asks the user wether they wish to accept this certificate.

This is obviously no good. My host said I would have to get my own certificate, which if that is what I have to do that is fine.

Is this typical for shared server and SSLs?

Or should I just switch hosts?

$15 a year for the cheapest SSL cert I could find, to save you a load of configuration headaches.

For the life of me, I just can't understand why anyone would want to use shared certs anymore.

It is not typical, no. What type of SSL cert is it and what browser are you using? It seems they might be using an SSL cert that is not recognized of course - which is not good.

As pointed out, they could have purchased one pretty cheaply and it would have been accepted.
