If you had your own private label product, would you sell your product wholesale to online retailers or would you sell your product retail directly from your website?

Chances are both. It really depends on the market and what it might be. If it was somethig high risk / or came with a higher chance of chargebacks, then I would consider selling wholesale only

The product is actually a consumable product. The reason I'm asking is because I feel I will have more time for marketing and branding if I go with the wholesale method only.

I would go with retail. The market is bigger, and so are the margins.
