I already have a local ecommerce site for buyers in my country, Indonesia, where payment method is via bank transfer.
Now I'd like to expand my site so that I can sell my products to other countries as well(Us,Europe, etc). In order to do that, my site has to be able to receive credit card payment or other payment methods from any buyers in the world.
The problem is local bank can't provide a merchant account and I can hardly find any credit card processor company that accepts indonesian website, not even paypal.
I need some suggestions here. It's pity, because I know my products are very potential out there.

Thanks

It is a sad reflection of your countries standing in the world of commerce, as Indonesia ranks as one of the corrupt countries in the world, however may I suggest that you open up a account with a international bank and use a offshore bank account to receive payments. I have been doing business with Indonesian companies now for over 10 years and have never had any problems what so ever and have found them to be open and honest in all dealings, it is just the general publics view that they are dishonest, I have more trouble with US clients than any Asian clients I deal with.

Thanks for your advice, I've a citibank account and a singapore bank account, Do you think it would help?
Are you suggesting that I only accept wire transfer to my offshore bank account?

Thanks

Have you checked with either bank to see if they can support you? Or if they can open a bank account in the United States - you can get a merchant account here in the US. You will have some limits, like $10,000 a month and 4% discount rate, but sometimes it is a better start

If you have an account in Singapore, try dropping Worldpay a line. They have an office in SGP.
