I am trying to increase our conversion ratio on our site and am looking for any ecommerce reports / usability information that will allow me to improve the site to increase the conversion ratio.

I would be particularly keen to find any sites that offer a free site review with an emphasis on usability.

There are relatively few original sources on the usability of e-commerce sites. Many would-be usability experts simply read Nielsen stuff and then try to apply it to your site doing a paid audit.

There are many useful hints and tips in the "E-Commerce User Experience" analysis by Nielsen Norman Group.

It is a series of paid pdf reports, but if you know how to use advanced search in google, you can get at least 3 parts of the report free of charge.

Another useful source on usability in general is the usability lab at the Wichita uni:

This should be enough to get to decent usability levels without paying anything.

I know of no site that offers usability review free of charge. What would be the business model of such service?

One of the greatest things that has helped us in terms of usability is our stats package. We opted for one of the more expensive ones and it gives us a good idea of where people are going and where they are leaving.

Here is the most awesome info on web conversion, ROI and online copywriting I have found. I have talked to the owners several time, attended their free online seminars
and am planning to hire them to increase our conversion rates in January.

They have free conversion calculator tools and a ton of good info. [futurenowinc.com...]

This is their coversion rate newsletter. Can't say enough about how strong this info is. You just need to check it out. [grokdotcom.com...]

I am not affiliated with the company, but after many years of Internet Marketing and reading tons of zines, sites and articles - I am not easily impressed. This Newsletter is a MUST have for anyone trying to increase web sales.
