Good Morning All,

The company i work for sells blah blah over the interent via our secure website. We consider ourselves to be a big player in the market, with good turnover and over 2000 items online.

we are currently looking into a new ecommerce solution as the one we are with is clunky, slow and has regular bouts of downtime.

Im doing a lot of research into new solutions, but i was wiondering if anyone out there has some hands on experience with reliable solutions that they would recomend.

Main points for consideration are:

- we will build the site in house
- easy to use order administration needed
- search engine freindly site
- access to source code (if possible)
- fast page service!

thanks in advance for any help offered

Hello I would recommend using Oscommerce, its free and open source. We have done about 35 sites for our clients and I have 3 store myself. If you have good coder or you can contact any outside company to customize it. I tried to use many other custom software but oscommerce is ahead of them

I've recently come across a product called J Shop Server, which seems to do everythig you ask.

It's template driven, and some of the shops using it are simply awesome, and you have complete control over the design. I haven't used it yet, but I intend to in the next month or 2.

Looking at your wish list I would say look into ecommercetemplates they are UK based with search engine friendly features such as static pages, dynamic titles and meta tags, no "Id" parameter in the urls. Complete access to lean clean code not as cumbersome as oscommerce. Don't get me wrong OS has its pros, but overly coded and folder structures that could make a ballerina dizzy. ECT offers generic versions for your designers to work with. Their support forum is second to none in my book.

jshop is about to release version 2.0 March or April. It's not free, but meets all your requirements.

ive been looking at j shop today, spending quite a bit of time using thier demo admin area etc.

it does look pretty damn cool.

weve always had packages that have software and hosting so this is anew avenue for us.

I recently purchased the plain vanilla ecommercetemplate and found it very easy to use. And, as someone said, the support forum is great.

I can recommend an ecommerce site that's off-the-shelf and will be a success if you can bring the traffic to it. The sales for the products are in excess of $1 billion a year. Write a sticky message if you're interested and I'll reply with the site.
