I have recently launched my ecommerce site, and i have had 1 customer in the past 2 weeks. My website is professional and everything is functional.

Now the real questions:

What kind of sales did you have when you first started?

What was the most effective marketing?

Anything i should be aware of?

Pretty bright sales in the first month, I have to say.
I just was happy to see at least something :)

3 sales in the first month, 6 in the second...

Most effective marketing -- sending newsletter to the existing clients.

Be aware that you should not expect much in the first two-three years.

depends on everything, actually.
the best marketing for the start is signing up to directories of all kinds.
best advertising seems to be adwords.

"Having recently launched" such a site is really too early to expect some considerable results so far. Besides, you didn't say anything about what was your traffic for the period and thus convertion rate. So, you could do a deeper research into that by such criteria as SEO, traffic amount, etc. to outline which marketing techniques to undertake.

I launched about 4 months ago, generating about 60% of sales via adwords, 40% from a wide range of random places (relevant niche sites forum postings, etc). Sales were reasonable from day 1, and haven't climbed much since then - the first week wasn't that much different from last week. It has improved, but not radically, maybe 30%.

I actually have almost non-existent traffic. I get 10-20 clikc a day on adwords/yahoo and it's not really working that well. Here is my ad text, i'm placed 5/6th on both yahoo and adwords.

My site has been up for about a month and it is barely starting to crawl unto google and yahoo.

Stats on google: 7 Clicks, 1060 Imps, Avg position: 5.2
Yahoo Stats:4 Clicks, 476 Imps, Avg position: 5

I checked my logs and the clicks barely last, people come in and a page or two later they are gone. I need some professional help. I have had people review my site and consumers look at it and they are impressed, i need to find out what i need to improve.

I tried Site Targeted ads, they were a success in getting traffic, but they cost too much compared to their imp/clicks and it got me semi-unqualified customers
