i have looked many scripts but they all seem to be auction type. i want a fixed price website where any seller can join with concent of administrator and post his items for sale. also buyers have only one id ffor shopping in any stores something similar to ebay minus the auctions.
PHP would be great for the same. please suggest m if any script is available .

I think X cart might offer this. I know crafty-ones.com has something similar set up but it is in ASP

Yeah, we use x-cart for our shopping mall. Keep in mind that the code is a nightmare to deal with.

We had major performance issues at around 15K products and 1K categories... had to rewrite a fair bit of their SQL queries.

So... be careful. It works but you sort of keep wondering when its going to stop meeting your requirements.

Lorax, 4.x.15 or 16 x-cart pro. I'd have to look at the php files to figure out the version. Ours is updated to whatever was stable in late October.

The major problem has been with the way they handle categories and the add on modules which had to be recoded.
