Can anyone offer their recommondation for an online CC processing service that's both reliable and inexpensive (in regards to set-up and processing fees).

The client I'm working for has a resort in the Philippines and wants to process 1st night reservation fees so he doesn't get stiffed if the people making a reservation don't show up - an unfortunate and frequent occurance here.

Also, I've never done any kind of ecommerce functionality and I'm a little concerned about this process myself.

Any and all advice grealy appreciated.

They might want to contact their local banks and see if they offer something like a virtual terminal.

Most hotel reservations would require payment upfront with a cancellation policy... i.e. full refund if you cancel more than 3 or 4 days ahead, partial refund and no refund if you're a no show.

Good luck! Travel-related businesses are very difficult to get CC processing for- most processors won't touch them. Especially online, although since the client has a phsyical presense (the resort), that helps. Outside the U.S.- another strike.

Check PayPal- easy to setup, but I'm not sure how much/fast to send the money to a bank in the PI.

If a customer is so irresponible, not to show up or cancel the reservation, they will also dispute the charge when it does show up on the credit card.

Your hotel will now be out the nights stay and the cost of a chargeback.

lgn1,
Actually, after we started requiring pre-payment with a credit card for reservations, the number of no-shows dropped to almost nothing. It helps weed out the looky-loos that have no real intention of actually staying.

True, people can always use a fake credit card number (easily weeded out by validating the number against the cc's number algorithm) or stolen card (usually weeded out when attempting to charge the card).

2CO would not accept it on so many levels - the biggest being
Hotel, Airfare, Accommodations, Car Rental, Travel Services

I could not locate anything about what services CCAvenue does not accept unfortunately. I would agree wth the previous poster - contact the local bank to see what they can possibly do
