Has anyone bought this report?

The Internet Retailer top400 report is $50. Just wondering if anyone has purchased this and has any comments on it.

Looks interesting especially if they really have all the details they claim, such as exact web sales. Many of those sites are privately owned.

But the info is for 2004. Are they going to do a 2005 version soon in a few months?

We bought it the year before last but not this year. I'll probably get the next edition again. Somewhat interesting.

On a side note, it's the Top 400 companies that they could get to report (or find out about through public filings). Our revenues would put us at the very end of the Top 400 (based on the last report I saw) but we choose not to report our financials publicly. I know of a number of companies that would definitely make it in there but they are also left out.

that is a tough choice because you end up having to decide if putting another credibility seal on your site will generate enough additional revenue to offset all the new competition that you will be facing because of the listing.

we decided to sit out this publication but let ourselves get listed in another (more mainstream) listing.

I have the 2005 edition, but have not really looked it over yet. But from what I saw, there was some interesting stuff in there.
Just wanted to post to let people know that the 2005 edition is out!

Does it have 2004 or estimated 2005 sales figures? When did the 2005 edition come out?

uh, it has 2004 sales figures in it! I just figured that it was the 2005 edition, since it says on the cover 2005 edition!

bought it - would not buy it again. Info is rather basic and I felt it was someone inaccurate in places. They never really said where some of the figures they used come from.

That said, I did find a few rare gems in there.

I bought the 2004 one...

Wouldn't buy again - I don't think the numbers are very accurate - Lots of 'estimates' - C'mon you really think that ecom sites are going to pull their pants down and reveal specific visit and conversion rate data? lol
