I'm developing a "subscription" based website - an online directory (very niche specific) - where users pay monthly to have there company added.
As such, during "checkout" , i have to collect lots of information: Billing Details, Company Details, Directory Details, etc - unfortunately, my Merchant Account does not allow me to pass all these details back - it sets the number of custom variables.
Therefore, im' wondering if it would be frowned upon if the checkout process looked like this:
1. Client Clicks "Join Website" button somewhere on website.
2. Client enter's billing details (and only billing details).
3. Client is directed to a form where he/she can fill out company and directory details.
This - as apposed to one online form....
COuld this work? Is it "bad" to collect billing details before anything else?
Andrew.
I am sure somehow their must be a technical way to achieve what you need , ie the form page sending two different sets of info to two different place / IE databse and payments processor , when the confiemed transaction comes back it ties back to DB.
Alternativly maybe deal with the payment first and then send customer back to details required page or email the questions you need answered.
If you are going to use these methods EXPLAIN CLEARLY and ** Confidently ** in lead up pages that once they have paid they can .... >>get straight on to dealing with getting thier link up .....TREAT IT AS A POSITIVE rather than what you think it is in YOUR mind ie a negative
If fact dealing with it this way may actually gain sales as seeing a page initially with loads of detaisl to fill in might put some people short on time off and of course tney never come back for a myriad of reasons
Best of Luck
