i've checked AVS results for all transactions over the last 6 months for a number of websites I manage and that use worldpay
on the plus side, 69.76% of all transactions come in with AVS = 2222 - code10 isn't necessary with AVS matches like this
on the down side, 10.9% have at least one 1 (not checked) - this is where code10 is most useful - 10.9% is way too high
it's a manual AVS check - they contact the card issuer to verify the address
it was free, and not very well publicised - and now they charge a fiver
if you haven't had the email, you may be able to get a code 10 check for free
send an email to code10 AT worldpay.com with your company ID and the customer / AVS details, asking for a code10 check
might take a few days to get a response if they have to fax details over to the bank ..........
look at the number of US / CA merchants in here that say they can't do AVS checks for UK/EU companies .......
reading merchant911 emails, people are taking cards manually then phoning card companies to do manual verification - looks like a time-consuming way of doing business ..........
i'm trying to find out what security / fraud screening other providers have and how good it is, but they seem reluctant to tell very much.
We found many of the UK chargebacks are related to the customer's mistake: they forget they have purchase anything from us. We have to follow the worldpay's rules to get customer's signature, and reverse the chargeback.
The bad thing with worldpay is they still charge £10 for chargeback even if it is reversed back to us again.
Worldpay is also bad that they will not refund their charges if we issue refund.
