Best way to ship from US to International like New Zealand & UK

We constantly loose customers overseas because of such high shipping costs.. Does anyone else here (in the US) ship international. If so, which method do you use?

I have a customer in New Zealand that wants to order a widget. UPS wants $350 to ship it!

I know that USPS is cheaper but the insurance program is horrible.

You should check it with APX, I think they are cheaper than UPS.
