CubeCart - eCommerce option or not?

CubeCart - is it any good

I'm looking to use a quick and easy shopping cart for the first time. i suddenly have two clients who want to have on-line shops. One selling wine the other pet clothes.

Someone said use CubeCart, You forums on:
[webmasterworld.com...]
Mentioned Webgenie.

Wich one would people say is the easiers to use and the best value for money?

I was thinking of setting up with Worldpay but have no idea if I have to create two accounds of if I can set up one in my name and channel both site through my one account. Any ideas?!

Each merchant will have to have his / her own merchant account because the businesses are owned by two different people and they are selling two different items.

It depends on where your merchant is as far as getting an account. If they are in the United States, Worldpay might be a bit more expensive than another merchant account provider.

You should let the merchant choose what processor they will want to use since, afterall, this is their money

Cheers for the reply on that. One of my clients are in the UK and another is English but working in Spain. I agree that the client should choose whom to use but it would help to know which company to use. Are there any you could recommend or a website(s) that will help me choose the best one?

I assume due to my rushed and poorly spelled initial post nobody has any thoughts on CubeCart

The person in Spain might check out Worldpay and if the person who speaks English, is he from the United States? Does he have a US bank account, etc?

The second person is based in the UK but both the spain and uk clients have uk accounts.

CubeCart is very easy to set-up and has an easy to use admin interface. I don't know anything about it's automated card processing capabilities. The developer seems to be a level headed decent guy.

CubeCart is free if you leave the copyright message on the page... but paying for it allows you to remove it.

Worldpay or Barclays then for both of them depending on volume.

I use Worldpay, and paypal in conjunction with it, and it works well.

It may also e worth checking out a Lloyds cardnet Merchant account and Protx as the Gateway, according to the protx website, it is very good value for money.

I also had a customer e-mail me once and tell me this! (he wasn't just some random guy, but someone who I helped out a lot, and he suggested it).

Protx charge 10p per transaction, even on Debit cards, where Worldpay charge 60p. I don't know if Lloyds put an additional charge on top though.

I might try it one day, but as I have Worldpay set up nicely, I will stick with it for now.

Having just finished playing with cube cart Id like to say that the product design is easily editable. I.e I was able to add my own HTML to the description.

However Webgenie wins hands down its no contest really in terms of flexability of features and designs.

I think cubecart is good one, you'll find their code is separate from their templates, and hence you can be able to edit the appearance easily.

FYI: CubeCart uses a template library called XTemplate

Although CubeCart uses an older version that the developer has modified himself.

I thought the admin better than x-cart.
