Thinking of Acquiring a Domain

Any tips about things to look for while doing due diligence?

I am thinking of acquiring a domain name that is very applicable to the business I am currenty in. It would be a great domain name to have.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestion about what to look for before making the leap:

Positives are that the site has been around for a while, it has a good amount of inbound links, and is a very applicable domain name to my business.

Big problem is that I have a feeling that the site has been banned by google and yahoo. How do I make sure of this? If it indeed has, is there any way to eventually get the site re-included? Would a ground up redevelopment of the site help?

If anyone who has been through this has any suggestions, I would be extremely thankful.

Ok , it turns out that the site was banned by google and yahoo.

Is it difficult to get the site re-included?
