I have a UK based EBAY/website business (via Marketworks) and up until now I have only allowed Paypal, cheque and bank transfer options for payment.
I have just (yesterday) enabled credit/debit card payments directly (using Cybersource gateway) and was advised to set the AVS checking level to high which checks the 1st line of address and postcode match.
Out of the first five card payments, three have failed on the AVS check which does not fill me with confidence!
I am wondering if I have the level set too high - should I drop it to 1st line of address OR postcode instead?
How intelligent is the AVS checking? For instance, does the AVS check ignore lower/upper case, extra spaces, commas, etc. when checking first line of address?
This is all new to me so apologies if I am asking really dumb questions!
Regards,
Jeff
I will use it and compare it to some other factors to determine if I should ship the order, call the customer, or just cancel the order.
If they are a repeat customer and it doesnt match up perfectly, and I trust them, I will just ship it...
If I look up the phone number in google and it shows the address they ordered with, then I will likely just ship it.
If I can find info in google tying their email address to their name or something, I will likely ship it...
If it is a small order, I will ship it
If it is an abnormal order, I will be suspicious.
