I need a shopping cart that can do the following:

1. Accept cash on deliver
2. Payment from worldwide.

3. (the awkward one) - There is going to only be one of each item as they are hand made, so once the item is bought it needs to disapear from the site.

Any Ideas?

>> Accept cash on deliver

COD is not something I've seen (or perhaps I just haven't had a need to use it) in a cart. The rest is pretty standard among the main-stream carts.

Try ZenCart .. It has all the features you are requiring plus many more.

Its for a client and she wants to have a COD option because in the area of the world she lives people are reluctant to buy on the internet.

I'll have a look at zencart

Many carts allow for COD Payment options - but it's only any use if you have a courier such a UPS/FedEx etc that operates a reliable COD Payment service! I gather that this may be better supported in the USA, but in the UK "COD" usually refers to "Cheque on Delivery" as opposed to cash, and even then the couriers often never make they payment collection but still hand over the delivery.

As for carts that offer this, a quick google search for 'Shopping Cart COD Payment' shows carts such as Fortune3, ihtmlmerchant, Monster Commerce, Dansie, Product Cart claiming to support this service etc.. I'm not sure to what extent any of them are integrated with the couriers to automatically setup the COD request when arranging the delivery manifest.

Payment from worldwide - this is more to do with whatever payment system you use. I would expect Cash On Delivery Payment would be limited by UPS/FedEx etc to the same country as the sender (but have no experience of this!)

As far as just selling one of each item, most good carts allow for inventory management, and give the option for products to be automatically hidden when the stock is zero.

FYI in the US, UPS no longer accepts cash, so it is also Check on Delivery. You can ask for a bank check if you want.

thanks for the extra advice.

My client already has a COD company to use in thier region so it is thier responsibility. I just have to find a cart that implements it. Thanks for the ideas so far.

ecommercetemplates has what you need, allow for different payment options and stock management would remove items after sale.

It seems to me that there are loads of carts out there doing various things some are goog and others not.

I wonder if any one has a site comparing them all....

That would be nice. Something similar to what I've seen for Open Source CMS comparison - where you can actually demo each of the carts. Would cost a bit to get it in place for some of the OTS carts but it would be a valuable site.
