Offer ends on *todays date* script

Looking again, as often, it seems, for a payment processor. Not many choices if based in the East.

So I find a site that looks *really* good, one of the most professional I've seen. But, lo and behold, there is a 'subscribe before Midnight *todays date* and... script. Now this has always made me think its not good commerce going on there....

Am I wrong? I've always resisted the urge to try this on my ecommerce sites as I think most people who see this realizes its an ongoing offer, disguised as ending today. Or do they fall for this?

A lot of times - I will actually check this out. If I do find out that it is actually "just another ad", I usually tend to do business elsewhere.

Now that is just me. It will work on for a lot of people.

we've done A/B testing and found that this does increase conversions.

That being said, ours is a widely available beauty/luxury set of products. People don't *need* this stuff and our studies also clearly show that if they don't buy on first visit, they won't be back.
