Alternatives to Worldpay in UK?
I dont want to go the merchant route, but I find Worldpay a pain to deal with - arrogant, and their own website stinks if you want to find something -

It's good that with Worldpay I can do without SSL as they handle transactions but..

I thought they offered more than one currency for the price? Anyone know different?
I can only take pounds - I dont want to pay any more either

this question is for my own site and two other sites I'm setting up - (that's for the benefit of Worldpay if they ever come here and see what users think of them)

thanks

There's lots. Do a UK Google search for 'payment service provider'.

Worldpay usually provide UKP, USD and EUR by default - others you have to pay extra for.

Well, you might as well use more search terms like 'credit card processing', 'accept online payments', 'online payment solutions' or 'third party processing' etc. That will probably give you the best overview of all the companies that there are in this market. It is a very competitive market and they all have their pros and cons.

I should have made my question clearer - I'm not looking for psps for which you need a bank merchant account -

I think there's only two or three that do the whole package of payment processing and merchant - and they are all around the same price

also Worldpay only give you one currency - if you KNOW for certain that you get 3 please let me know, but I think 3 currencies was something they offered a couple of years ago, not any more unfortunately

When I signed up 18 months ago, they offered it to me. Why not give them a call, or e-mail?

I'm getting 3 now. It is some years since I signed up, so I don't know what they offer to new customers - but if they're not offering 3 then you should be able to negotiate them into it.

We signed up with worldpay just over a year ago and got ukp, euro and us$ without paying extra (worlddirect account).

On a related note, talking to a supprt guy a few months back he told me that when we are doing £5,000+ a month we can ask for a lower rate (3 months at that level required).

We'll hit that target for August (fingers crossed) so I'll put that to the test soon.

I just called Worldpay and they will review the rates that we're paying. We're putting through in the region of £6,000+ a month of payments through them, and the guy I spoke to said there shouldn't be a problem. I just have to wait for them to get back to me with the new prices...

It's worth asking them for a better rate if you're doing any kind of volume at all. They haven't given me a huge improvement on their published rates, but it's better than nothing.

You can keep asking again every 3 months also.
