Just wondering if anyone could tell me if it's worth putting a donations pg on my tutorial site.

Have people donated to your site?

If so like how much is the average donation?

I don't think I have ever donated for a tutorial, but I donate always, if asked, for free software/scripts/tools if I find them useful. So I am a 'donator', but probably not to you I am afraid! Don't know how typical I am.

Usually I donate $10 for a tool I know I will use again. More for software/scripts, especially if I am free to and will use something on a commercial site, when it is actually my client who 'donates' :)

honestly - it can't hurt to put up a link to a donation page, but I would guess most people would not.

I tend to donate or look for a donate button when I find a really great article that answers the question I've been looking for.

Like a week or so ago, I was trying to figure out how to create this css and I couldn't figure it out on my own. After a bit of searching, I found a page that answered my question perfectly in a few paragraphs with a great example and it worked perfectly for me.

That page didn't have a donation button or a contact address so I could ask them if they had a PayPal account.

If there was one, I definitely would have donating something to say thanks.

I also donate if I find a freeware script that fits my needs and has a donation page handy.

Like the other poster said, it can't hurt to add one to your page. Seems like it could only help in the off chance there are others like me out there that like to "tip" :)

If you are providing a free service that helps people to profit in some way, I'd definitely put a donate link up.

Last week I found a program that did exactly what I have been looking for over the past several months. A real time saver. So I gave the kid who wrote it $50.

I've been known to donate to sites I like, AND am a major contributor to content-wise. Kind of like paying to volunteer. It gives me enjoyment to participate, in any case, and once having invested time in a site like this, I additionally have kicked down $100 donations when times were tight. (Industry forum sites.) This puts me down in a tiny percentile of web surfers, I'm sure.

I have a local directory and list every local website I can find. I have a section that allows people to submit their website to the directory for free. I also give them the option to donate and their website will be given top priority in getting added to the directory.
